Cycle 2 of Battle Frontier brought in many recognized and familiar teams as well as a lot of new teams into the fray. This week, we will be looking at some of the teams that really stood out amongst the rest:

Deoxys Alberta Forme:

DAF is a team that has participated in team based PvP since its inception with consistent performances in Silph’s Diamond and Emerald tiers. DAF joined Battle Frontier in Cycle 1 for the NA region, and immediately showed a dominating performance. In Cycle 1 DAF qualified into the Top 16 playoffs and seeded into Legendary Tier with a 4th place overall ranking among the 48 initial teams. In Cycle 2, they kept the momentum rolling by dominating the NA Legendary Tier with a 6-1 first place finish, and securing a position in the World Tournament which will take place after Cycle 4.

DAF brings with them a roster of players (many of which need no introduction), decorated in pvp credentials including but not limited to top cut Play! Pokemon performances and consistent first page leaderboard placements in GBL. Five of the nine active team members have all Top Cut a regional (Jbrandse, DaiLapCheurng, AShadyEquation, Xrvoz, and Magmarman). As their name implies, this is a tight knit group of friends and battlers with 100% of the team being from Canada, with all but two members being from Alberta. We expect to see a lot of continued high caliber performances from this group.

Gurdurr on the DanceFloor:

Gurdurrs, the new branding for the Tassie Timburrs is a team that started in a small town called Hobart in Tasmania. As Tassie Timburrs, they were former Silph Open, Platinum, Diamond, and Emerald league champions in the APAC region. They are also the only team in Silph to win every league in a single factions season. They have many GBL and Play! Pokemon credentials including but not limited to three Play! Pokemon Worlds competitors (Fishylegs2, mikeymorgs, and ricflareon), and the Silph Factions #2 overall ranked player (Luckyboy1209)

It’s their first cycle in Battle Frontier, but they have already shown they are here to make their mark by taking the first place spot of APAC Open Pool 5 with a 4-1 record. They are a team to keep an eye on in the APAC region with a veteran history in team based and solo pvp and a nice setup for top placement in Cycle 2 for the APAC region.

Inferno Overdrive:

Ending this list for this week’s spotlight is Inferno Overdrive. Inferno is one of the teams on the rise as one of the completely new Battle Frontier teams. The team was created when friends from the old SubZero and other Underground Server factions merged and convinced a few of their high ranking solo PvP player members into trying team based show six format for the first time. Each trainer has remarkable accolades ranging from impressive performance in Play! Pokemon tournaments and high leaderboard placements in GBL season after season. Many of them have also had huge influences in shaping the metas as notable content creators and battlers in the greater PvP community.

The team prides itself on strong technical play and collaboration to be successful in every domain, proving so with clean 7-0 sweep of NA Open Pool 1. The team has built a solid foundation for a bright future and looks to cements its name amongst the best. We look forward to seeing their continued team success in the Battle Frontier format.
